• In March 2022, the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City hosted the first sanctioned skill-based wagering event in the U.S., sponsored by Esports Entertainment Group and LANDuel. The event was a Madden ’22 esports competition that featured 32 players and awarded $10,000 in prizes4.

History of Atlantic City New Jersey

• The original inhabitants of the island were the Lenni-Lenape Indians, who used it as a summer home and enjoyed its natural resources

• The first permanent settler on the island was Jeremiah Leeds, who built a house and a farm there in 1785. He and his descendants were the only residents of the island until the mid-19th century
• Dr. Jonathan Pitney, a physician from Absecon, envisioned the island as a health resort and partnered with Richard Osborne, a civil engineer from Philadelphia, to bring the railroad to the island in 1854. They named the new town Atlantic City
• The first boardwalk was built in 1870 to help hotel owners keep sand out of their lobbies. It was later expanded and became a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike
• The city’s golden age was the 1920s, when it was a hub of entertainment, gambling, and alcohol during the Prohibition era. It also hosted the Miss America pageant from 1921 to 2004, and again from 2013 to 2018
• The city faced economic decline and social problems in the second half of the 20th century, as competition from other resorts and air travel reduced its appeal. It also suffered from corruption, crime, and racial tensions
• In 1976, New Jersey voters legalized casino gambling in Atlantic City, hoping to revitalize the city’s economy and tourism industry. The first casino opened in 1978, and soon more followed along the boardwalk and marina district
• The city has faced new challenges in the 21st century, such as natural disasters, competition from other states, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

2014 Atlantic City Air Show

Once again this years Atlantic City's annual Air Show will feature the Thunderbirds & the Golden Knights. Tens of thousands of visitors will flood to Atlantic City for the event. The air show is always a a great family event, there's nothing like an air show with the back drop of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Air Show will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 From 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is FREE on the beach and Boardwalk of Atlantic City.
Celebrating it's 12th year, the air show is Atlantic City's signature event, second only to the Miss America Pageant.

Parking:

Parking: Parking is available throughout the city. Rates start at $5 per vehicle and can range upward depending on location.  Here are some parking options beyond casino/hotel lots.

South Jersey Transportation Authority Parking (ADA Accessible):

• 24-hour Parking: New York Avenue Garage - 19 South New York Avenue - Click here for rates.
• $10 Park & Walk: The Fairmount Avenue Lot is located at Tanger Outlets, The Walk - 2313 Fairmount Avenue on the corners of Fairmount and Mississippi Avenues (Hours: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM)
• $20 Park & Ride: Surface lot parking will be available on the Atlantic City Expressway at Milepost 4 (Eastbound) & Milepost 3.5 (Westbound). Shuttles will run continuously between the lot and Boardwalk (at Indiana Avenue) from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM on the day of the Airshow.
